This past weekend, Cleveland Institute of Music alum Joshua Roman (BM’04, Aaron, MM’05, Hoebig) played the Dvořák cello concerto with the Des Moines Symphony. “The tightly integrated piece has juicy bits for both the soloist and the orchestra, and both played them well on Saturday,” said the reviewer from the Des Moines Register.

Roman has had a busy spring, touring the U.S. to perform with the Tucson Symphony, the Canton Symphony, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and the Columbus Symphony, among others. With the Canton Symphony, he also performed the signature Dvořák piece dazzling audiences with his rendition. Of the performance, Cleveland Classical said “he played as if at one with the passionate heart of Dvořák himself.”

Roman graduated from CIM in 2005 with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and at the age of 22 he was appointed principal cellist of the Seattle Symphony.
