Michael Miller

Michael Miller began his tenure as fourth trumpet of The Cleveland Orchestra with the 2006 Blossom Festival season. A native of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Mr. Miller previously served as principal trumpet of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra from 2002 to 2006. Prior to that, he served as the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra’s second trumpet for eight seasons. He previously held positions in the Savannah Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional in the Dominican Republic, and the OSN in Ecuador, where he performed and taught as a Fulbright grantee. He has been a featured soloist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Wind Ensemble, and has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, and the Stuttgart Ballet. Mr. Miller has been a member of the music faculties at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Queen’s University, and the University of South Carolina. He holds a bachelor of music degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and a master of music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His teachers include James Darling (retired member of The Cleveland Orchestra), Eugene Blee, Philip Collins, James Thompson, and Larry Black.
