Elizabeth Camus
Oboe, served as second oboist of The Cleveland Orchestra from 1979 to 2011. Prior to her Cleveland appointment, she was principal oboe of the San Antonio and Atlanta Symphonies. A native of New Orleans, she was youth soloist with both the New Orleans Symphony and The Cleveland Orchestra. Her teachers were John Mack and John de Lancie. Previous faculty appointments include Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University and Kent State University, as well as Agnes Scott College and Georgia State University in Atlanta. She has given master classes in many venues in the United States and Canada, and a number of her former students hold teaching and performing positions in both countries. For many years Ms. Camus was woodwind and chamber music coach of The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and is presently Coordinator of Woodwind Chamber Music at CIM. She is in her second term as a member of the board of directors of the Youth Orchestra Division of the League of American Orchestras.
