David Updegraff

violin, received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Louisville and a Master of Music degree with honors from the University of Michigan. His teachers include Paul Makanowitzky and Phillip Ruder. He has concertized widely, to critical acclaim, in the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Updegraff combines his concert activities with frequent appearances as adjudicator and clinician. His students have been winners and laureates in numerous international and national competitions, have appeared as soloists with such orchestras as The Cleveland Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony, and the Seattle Symphony; and hold prominent positions in the major symphony orchestras around the world. He taught previously at the University of Louisville and Western Michigan University. He was appointed to the CIM faculty in 1987.
