Ralitsa Georgieva-Smith is a member of the piano faculty at Malone University and collaborative piano faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She received her B.M and M.M in Piano performance from the State Conservatory of Music- Sofia, Bulgaria, a second M.M. in Piano performance from University of South Florida, and P.S. in Collaborative piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has also served as a staff pianist at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vermont. Other appearances include the “Peter the Great” Festival in the Netherlands and contemporary music festival “Pianissimo” in Sofia, Bulgaria.
She has performed as a soloist with the Sliven Symphony Orchestra and the Bourgas Philharmonic. Her performances have brought her to the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, and the United States. Several of her professional collaborators include Steve Witser (former Assistant Principal Trombone, Cleveland Orchestra/former Principal, and L.A. Philharmonic) Massimo La Rosa (Principal Trombone, Cleveland Orchestra), Carol Jantsch (Tuba, Philadelphia Orchestra) and Oystein Baadsvik (International Tuba Soloist).
Her principal teachers include Anita Pontremoli and Svetozar Ivanov. She also received coachings from David and Linda Cerone, Linda Jones, Elizabeth DeMio, Virginia Weckstrom, and members of the Cleveland Orchestra. She has participated in master classes with Martin Katz, Warren Jones, Logan Skelton, Barry Snyder, and John Elliot. In 2006, she was the recipient of Cleveland Institute of Music award for Excellence and Achievements in Collaborative Piano.
