The Cleveland Institute of Music is seeking a highly organized and self motivated person to serve as a full-time Events Coordinator reporting to the Director of Concerts & Events. The Events Coordinator is responsible for the execution of CIM events that range from Commencement weekend to large donor dinners and from receptions and faculty & staff luncheons to hospitality for prospective students and their parents on Audition Days. Events are driven by various departments and the Events Coordinator's role will vary somewhat depending on the scope and ownership of a particular event.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, booking space, catering, parking, security, mailings, reservations, entertainment, decorations, signage, supplies and rentals. In the performance of his/her job, the Events Coordinator will interact with faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees, donors, volunteers, event guests and concert patrons. He/she will also arrange for support provided by internal departments such as Maintenance, Security, Recording Services, Concert Production, Box Office, IT, Marketing and Distance Learning and will contract with outside vendors when appropriate.
A qualified candidate will have a minimum of 3 years events experience, be an excellent problem solver, have a superior customer service ethic and strong communication skills and have a demonstrated success in organizing and planning multiple events simultaneously, each with a myriad of details. A bachelor's degree and knowledge of classical music performance is preferred. Must have the ability to work various hours and be able to move and transport materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
