CIM Announces New Dean
The Cleveland Institute of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of ADRIAN DALY to the position of Dean of the Conservatory. A Search Committee, led by CIM faculty member Marshall Griffith, was comprised of faculty, staff and trustees, including Ann Calkins, Head of the Educational Policy Committee, who has served on the CIM Board of Trustees for 50 years. Dr. Daly will assume the role in July, 2009.
Fulbright Scholar Adrian Daly arrives at CIM well-rounded, with 22 years of teaching experience, 10 years of experience in Student Affairs, eight years in Career Services, six years in Music Admissions and two years in Academic Affairs at schools such as Eastman School of Music, University of Notre Dame and various institutions in Ireland. Currently he is the Associate Dean for Admissions and Retention at Eastman School of Music, where he previously held the positions of Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, Director of Career Services and Assistant Dean of Students.

"Mr. Daly is a penetratingly intelligent musician and administrator with a stellar record of proactive and forward-looking action in his previous work at the Eastman School of Music. I congratulate the Dean Search Committee on finding CIM a new, young and energetic presence as part of our team to help carry us forward into the 21st century."
Dr. Daly has served as the primary officer for Eastman School of Music Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, providing leadership, motivation and support for the planning and implementation of the School's recruiting strategies and admissions processes, setting enrollment goals, determining financial aid policies and practices and coordinating the recruitment of prospects. Additionally, he has managed and developed undergraduate curriculum and academic programs, mentoring and overseeing student professional development, while focusing on retention and academic progress.
For over a decade, Dr. Daly has been involved with various special projects, from making email accounts available to all students for the first time in 1995 to working with Eastman Admissions and University of Rochester Information Technology Services to form a gateway to online admissions. For the last three years, Dr. Daly, in conjunction with The Juilliard School and Ithaca College, designed, implemented and promoted the Annual Upstate New York College Music Fair, including almost 70 national University Schools of Music. For several years he coordinated and developed Eastman's student exchange program with conservatories abroad, including the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Paris Conservatoire, Universitat fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien, among others. He is currently a standing member on many school committees including the Financial Aid Committee and Enrollment Management and was a committee member for Academic Policy, Academic Progress, Academic Integrity, Student Services and Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (ex officio), to name just a few.
Dr. Daly received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Trinity College DuBlin (Ireland), a Master's in Performance and Literature from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from Eastman. As a student at Eastman, he was active in Residential Life, holding the positions of Resident Advisor, Head Counselor for the Summer Music Program and Head Resident Advisor.
