CIM ANNOUNCES MAY & JUNE EVENTS
Chamber Ensembles, Young Artists, a Musical Luncheon and 12th Annual Guitar Weekend
CLEVELAND, OHIO – 04-24-12 – The Cleveland Institute of Music Concert Series concludes with chamber ensembles, Young Artists in recital, a Musical Luncheon and the 12th Annual International Guitar Weekend featuring a panel of spectacular guest artists.

The Cleveland Institute of Music presents hundreds of events each year, most free of charge. Programs are performed at 11021 East Boulevard, Cleveland, unless otherwise noted.
BRASS AND WOODWIND CHAMBER ENSEMBLES: May 1, 2
CIM brass students will conclude their semester with the Brass Ensembles event in Kulas Hall on Tuesday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. The ensembles have been coached by director Richard Stout, Massimo La Rosa, Michael Miller and Michael Sachs, all members of The Cleveland Orchestra and CIM’s brass faculty.
Woodwind Ensembles, directed by Elizabeth Camus, recently retired oboist for The Cleveland Orchestra, will perform in Mixon Hall on Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m.
YOUNG ARTISTS’ RECITAL: May 7
On Monday, May 7, students in CIM’s Young Artist Program (YAP) will perform in Mixon Hall at 7:30 p.m. The YAP program is a concentrated course of study for musicians in grades 11 and 12. Graduates of this intensive program have achieved successful solo and ensemble careers, such as McArthur Fellow cellist Alisa Weilerstein and Cleveland Orchestra violist Eliesha Nelson. This season’s Young Artists include Davidson Fellow pianist Arianna Körting, 2012 Frieda Schumacher Young Artist competition winner cellist Hannah Moses and members of The Quartet Aliquet, a combined advanced chamber group coached by CIM President Joel Smirnoff and Preparatory Dean Sandra Shapiro.
MUSICAL LUNCHEON SERIES CONCLUDES: May 23
Presented by the Women’s Committee of CIM, the Musical Luncheon Series concludes on Wednesday, May 23 in Mixon Hall. CIM’s new Dean of Preparatory and Continuing Education Sandra Shapiro presents a program of music for the young and the young at heart. The Committee’s Annual Meeting begins at 11 a.m., followed by the musical program at noon and concludes with lunch.

12th ANNUAL GUITAR WEEKEND: June 1-3
On June 1-3, Guitars International, in cooperation with CIM, presents the 12th International Guitar Weekend. This unique artistic event has consistently brought the world’s finest guitars, lutenists, lecturers, composers and teachers to CIM to share their expertise and classical guitar music in a concentrated series of recitals, master classes, lecture demonstrations and exhibits. The weekend culminates with a performance by Jason Vieaux, head of CIM’s guitar department and soprano voice faculty member Jung Eun Oh on Sunday, June 3 at 4 p.m. in Mixon Hall.
Guest artist recitals include Pavel Steidl (Friday, 8 p.m.), Gaelle Solal (Saturday, 4:30 p.m.) and SoloDuo, featuring Lorenzo Michelo and Matteo Mela (Saturday, 8 p.m.).
