CLEVELAND YOUTH WIND SYMPHONY I PERFORMS MAY 4, CLEVLAND YOUTH WIND SYMPHONY II MAY 5

The Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony I will perform under the direction of Gary M. Ciepluch at Brecksville/Broadview Heights High School at 7:30 p.m. on May 4. The next evening, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony II will perform under the direction of Ciepluch and associate conductor, Melissa Lichtler. Admission is $5 at the door for each performance. Gary Ciepluch is director of bands and associate professor at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), conductor of the University Circle Wind Ensemble, and founder/music director of the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphonies. He appears frequently as a clinician and guest conductor in the U.S. and abroad. In addition, he is an active member of the College Band Directors National Association and past president of the Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association.
Melissa Lichtler has been the associate conductor of the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony II since its inception in 1995. She is head of the music department in the Chardon Local Schools. Ms. Lichtler earned bachelor and master's degrees from CWRU. She is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association, Music Educator's National Conference, National Bands of America, the International Trombone Association and the Ohio Education Association.
