CIM BEGINNING AND PREPARATORY ORCHESTRAS JOIN WITH YOUTH STRING CAMERATA IN SEMESTER'S END CONCERT

On Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. , the CIM Beginning and Preparatory Orchestras, directed by Donna Dehn, will perform in Kulas Hall. They will be joined by the Youth String Camerata, co-directed by Marcia Ferritto and Deborah Price. This is the groups' end-of-semester concert. The orchestras are for students of all playing abilities, so there will be music sure to please all musical tastes.

Donna Dehn, Conductor, Beginning and Preparatory String Orchestras, is director of orchestras at Cleveland Heights High School. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree in violin performance from the University of Houston Moores School of Music. Her violin teachers have included Gregory Fulkerson, Erich Eichhorn, Fredell Lack, Paul Kantor, David Russell, Roland and Almita Vamos; she has also studied viola with Roland Vamos; and conducting with Jody Kerschner, Joanne Erwin and Timothy Weiss. She was appointed to the CIM faculty in 2006.
Marcia Ferritto, co-onductor, CIM Youth String Camerata, is a violist who is nationally recognized for solo and chamber music performances. Called "a violist with a full singing tone, delicacy, grace and instrumental command" by The Plain Dealer, her background includes a distinguished career as a chamber music player, soloist and teacher. She has performed in concert halls in the United States and Canada including the Kennedy Center and Blossom Music Center. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College, she received her professional training in Philadelphia as a student of Max Aronoff at The New School of Music. Her studies also include work with William Lincer, Joseph Fuchs and Donald McInnes.
Deborah Price, co-conductor, CIM Youth String Camerata is strongly committed to chamber music and string education. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Chamber Music Connection, Inc. in Worthington and is a violin and viola instructor at Kenyon College. Additionally, she serves on the faculty at the American String Teacher's Association/Ohio State University String Teachers Conference. She teaches with the Suzuki Violin Program of Columbus, maintains a private violin/viola studio and coordinates the chamber music for Capital University's Suzuki Institute.
