About construction at CIM CIM embarked upon a $40 million expansion project in 2001. The new additions to the campus in University Circle will provide much needed teaching, practice and performance space. The expansion includes Mixon Hall, a 250 seat recital hall, an expanded library, and a new facade and lobby on East Boulevard. An education wing on Hazel Drive will include a new distance learning studio, practice rooms, teaching studios, a new student lounge and office space. A ceremonial "Ice Breaking" took place in February 2005 to break ground for the project. In June CIM awarded the construction contract to Donley's Inc., a leading Cleveland-based construction management, design/build and general contracting firm. This completes the project team which consists of Project Manager/Cost Consultant, Stewart Donnell of Donnell Consultants, Inc., Paul Scarbrough of Akustiks, a firm located in South Norwalk, Connecticut, as the acoustician for the project, Theatre Projects Consultants, Inc., and design architect, Charles T. Young. This project represents the fourth major University Circle project performed by Donley's in the last five years. Donley's served as construction manager for the $30-plus million Cleveland Botanical Garden expansion, as concrete contractor for Case Western Reserve University's Peter B. Lewis Building designed by Frank Gehry, and as designer/builder of a 10-level parking deck for University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. The CIM expansion is now slated to be completed in the summer of 2007. About the CIM construction camera Our construction camera is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and snaps a new image once per minute. It looks out over the southeast corner of the CIM roof and provides the best vantage point to view all of the ongoing construction. The work being done at CIM is part of our ongoing expansion - and you can read more about the future of CIM here. We'd like to thank Donley's for providing and configuring the CIM construction camera and helping us get it installed and running. Questions? webmaster@cim.edu |
