Quentin Quereau, Music Literature, was active as a singer through 1998, performing with Apollo’s Fire, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Ohio Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Chamber Symphony and The Cleveland Orchestra. He also appeared in Bach festivals in several states and in recital with pianists Donald Payne and David Breitman among others. His vocal training included work with Blake Stern at the Yale School of Music and he was particularly active in the performance of Baroque music and new works, including premieres of works by Libby Larsen, Bain Murray and Allen Krantz. Dr. Quereau has a Ph.D. in musicology from Yale University and in earlier years was active in musicological research in the sacred music of the sixteenth century, publishing articles on the parody mass and Palestrina in the Journal of the American Musicological Society and The Journal of Musicology and giving papers at meetings of the American Musicological Society. He was a member of the music faculty of Case Western Reserve University from 1974 until his retirement in 2005, teaching courses in opera, oratorio, art song, and music appreciation, and graduate courses in medieval and Renaissance music. He twice served as department chair: 1988-1993 and 1999-2002. He was appointed to the CIM faculty in 2006.
