String & Piano Chamber Music
Chamber Music at CIM has always held a special place. The warm and collaborative nature of the faculty, staff and students have combined over the past twenty years to produce one the most nationally recognized and highly acclaimed programs for the serious study of chamber music in the country.
Guest Artists and Faculty
All CIM students enrolled in chamber music have the opportunity to perform in Guest Artist Master Classes with world renowned artists including members of the Juilliard, Takacs, Tokyo, Guarneri, Cleveland, Ying, Boromeo, Emerson, Miami, Colorado and Brentano Quartets, as well as members of The Beaux Arts Trio, Lincoln Center Chamber Players, KLR trio, Pamela and Claude Frank, Alisa Weilerstein and many others.
CIM students will receive weekly coachings as well as participate in master classes with Peter Salaff, Chairman of String and Piano Chamber Music, and members of The Cavani String Quartet: Annie Fullard, violin; Mari Sato, violin; Kirsten Docter, viola; and Merry Peckham, cello; as well as Piano faculty members Virginia Weckstrom, Anita Pontremoli and Carolyn Warner.
All ensembles are given the opportunity to be coached by a "team" of coaches, one of CIM's uniquely collaborative approaches to the study of chamber music.
Careers in Chamber Music
CIM offers several unique programs for those students devoted to the serious study of Chamber Music (for more details, see special programs, below).
Ensembles who were formed or whose members did their chamber music studies at CIM have achieved tremendous success and are making wonderful contributions to the music world. Among those ensembles are, The Jupiter Quartet, The Miro Quartet, The Maia Quartet, The Biava String Quartet, The Miami Quartet, The Ying Quartet, and The Cavani Quartet.

Thanks to CIM's longstanding and unique relationship with the renowned Cleveland Chamber Music Society, the students not only have access to special guest artist master classes and performances, the Chamber Music Society has also developed a newly inaugurated Outreach Program, in which a CIM quartet is chosen to perform in four Cleveland Area Schools.
Competitions
Each year, CIM students from the Chamber Music Program choose to prepare for and enter chamber music competitions. In 2009, two CIM Quartets, The Aeolus Quartet and The Linden Quartet (pictured), were First Prize Winners at Coleman, and The Linden Quartet won the Grand Prize at Fischoff.
