Violin Department
Headed by Stephen Rose, the Violin Department is CIM's largest and provides opportunities to play - and play often. Participating in master classes conducted by international soloists, performing in Kulas and Severance Halls, preparing for weekly private lessons, and playing in chamber ensembles and the CIM Orchestra are the routine at CIM. Competition and support from peers and teachers ensure a healthy atmosphere as well as friendships that last well into professional careers. Students come to count on the high level of musical achieved by themselves and those around them and to consider themselves members of a very special family.
The Violin Department benefits from CIM's special relationship with the Cleveland Orchestra, and the String Program focuses on preparing outstanding orchestral musicians. Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster, William Preucil, founded CIM's Concert Master Academy, a distinctive feature of the Department and Conservatory.
CIM violin alumni distinguish themselves and their alma mater through their accomplishments and professional placements.
