Features

Audio and Visual Recordings

The Library's collection of audio and visual recordings includes 10,000 records, over 12,000 compact discs, and 3,300 tapes - both reel-to-reel and cassette and a growing collection of videos, laserdiscs, and DVDs. The collection includes recordings of selected CIM faculty recitals and orchestra performances. All audio/visual materials are available for use in the Library, on our listening, video, laserdisc, and DVD stations.

CIM Performances

Description:

Recordings of CIM faculty recitals, orchestra concerts and other special events are a great asset to the library's collection. These recordings are in a variety of formats from reel-to-reel tape to compact disc. They are cataloged in our audio card catalog and are available for listening in the library.

Finding Aids:

Binders at the media desk contain programs for concerts (1985 - present) and reference tape/cassette/CD numbers.

AVS Distributed Sound System

The Robinson Library’s Media Center contains an AVS Distributed Sound System that enables digital streaming of new and older media formats to 24 media carrels and 2 group listening rooms for individual or simultaneous listening and/or viewing. All media is played by Media Staff behind the Media Desk and is streamed to the Media Carrels. Digital media (CDs and DVDs) may be personally controlled with a touch pad remote, allowing tracking, volume control, and other playback features. The AVS Matrix Switcher, located behind the Media Desk allows non digital media, such as LPs, cassettes, and videos to be streamed to all media stations as well, with more limited playback control. This system not only increases viewing and listening potential, but allows CIM to help secure and preserve it’s recordings for the future.

Group Listening Rooms

Each small group room is designed to seat up to 6 people, is networked and contains a DVD/CD player and a LCD flatscreen. Media Room users may sign out for the use of a small group media room at the Media Desk.
