Music Information Literacy Tutorial (MILT)

The Robinson Music Library is a place for you to explore. This tutorial will introduce you to essential library services and information resources that will help you throughout your undergraduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Organization

The three modules of this tutorial will introduce the music library, overview music information sources, and discuss how to find and evaluate music resources. Each concludes with a quiz. Review each section thoroughly before taking the quiz that is found on the last page of each module.

For Freshman Seminar, the quiz must be submitted with a score above 80% to receive credit. In order to get credit for completing MILT, provide your Case ID and name when prompted at the beginning each quiz.

Authorship / Feedback

This tutorial was developed by Bonnie Houser Eggers, reference librarian at CIM, and Michael Dalby, at the time of MILT's creation a graduate student at Kent State University. It is intended as an information literacy tutorial for freshman music majors. It is a required component for freshman colloquium at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
