The Orchestra Library's primary responsibility is to obtain (through purchase or rental), prepare, and distribute music for the CIM orchestral program. This includes orchestra programs, the regular concert series, conducting student recitals and classes such as the conducting major's Lab Orchestra, the required beginning conducting class and the woodwind/brass repertoire class.
In addition, students can request individual parts for study and auditions. The CIM Orchestra Library does not lend music to outside groups or individuals.
Orchestra Library Resources
- Request Parts: CIM students and faculty can request individual orchestral parts for study. In most cases the requested part will be sent to you as a PDF. If we cannot send you a PDF, you will receive a note as to whether or not your request is available in another format.
Fill out the online form below or e-mail your request to the Orchestra Library - Orchestral Musicians' CD-ROM Library: The Orchestral Musicians' CD-ROM Library is a commercial offering of complete parts for the public domain portion of the symphonic repertoire.
Thousands of pieces are available for all instruments. Contact the Orchestra Library for more information about this material. - Orchestral Music Online: Orchestral Music Online is the web version of David Daniels' Orchestral Music: A Handbook (Scarecrow Press). Provides information about the instrumentation of over 4,500 compositions. For each composition, this resource details information about the composer, date of composition, duration, names of individual movements, publishers and other related information.
- CIM Repertoire Database: The CIM Repertoire Database is an authoritative listing of composers and their works with correct spellings, consistent formats for titles, and that includes the names of movements.
