Annie Fullard

Annie Fullard, violinist, is a member of The Cavani String Quartet, Quartet-in-Residence at CIM since 1988. Ms. Fullard also serves as artistic advisor for community engagement at CIM and has been director of String and Piano Chamber Music Seminar at Case Western Reserve University since 2005. Ms. Fullard is a founding member of the Cavani Quartet which is a winner of numerous awards and prizes including the Naumburg Chamber Music Award, Cleveland Quartet Competition and the Banff, Fischoff and Carmel Competitions. Ms. Fullard and her colleagues in The Cavani Quartet were named Musical America's Young Artists of the Year 1989 and received the 1998 ASCAP-Chamber Music America Award for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music, the 2005 and 2013 Guarneri String Quartet Residency Award and eight Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grants. Ms. Fullard has toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad, including a Mozart Anniversary Tour in 2006 of Salzburg, Vienna and Prague, and a 2010 tour with Chamber Music Connection Italia, featuring a performance at The Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome. Other appearances include Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Corcoran Gallery and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Ambassador Series in Los Angeles, Festival L'Epau in France, and the Ijsbreker Series in Amsterdam. Ms. Fullard has had the honor of collaborating with Itzhak Perlman, Robert Mann, Alisa Weilerstein, Anton Nel, Stephanie Blythe and Charles Neidich and Joel Smirnoff, and members of the Cleveland, Juilliard, Miami, Takacs, Ying, Emerson, Borodin, Amadeus and St. Lawrence String Quartets.

Nationally recognized as a dynamic leader in the field of chamber music performance , education and advocacy, Ms. Fullard and her colleagues have been featured lecturers at The Weatherhead School of Management at CWRU and at Business Schools around the country presenting their program : Coaching Strategies and Techniques: Building Empowered and Collaborative Teams by Applying Principles of Chamber Music Pedagogy.

Deeply committed to communicating the joy of music-making to students of all ages , Ms. Fullard has given master classes and lecture demonstrations at music festivals, universities and public and private schools in communities across the country, including The New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, The Aspen School of Music, The Perlman Music Program, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Phoenixphest in Ann Arbor, Michigan , Chamber Music Connection in Columbus,Ohio, Midwest Young Artists and The Academy in Chicago, Illinois.

Former chamber music students include members of the Jupiter, Thalia, Linden, Daedalus, Miro, Maia, Biava, Fry Street, Afiara, Vega, Aeolus, Omer, Ariadne Quartets, as well as members of The Cleveland Orchestra.

In collaboration with her colleagues, she has also developed the Apprentice Quartet Program, Intensive Quartet Seminar, New Quartet Project and M.A.P. (Music, Art & Poetry) PROJECT and Chamberfest' Amateur Chamber Music Weekend. Ms. Fullard is former artist-in-residence at the University of California, Riverside, and the University of Texas and has served as Visiting-Artist at the University of Southern Illinois, Carbondale.

A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Ms. Fullard pursued additional studies at the Indiana University and Yale University. Her teachers and mentors include Donald Weilerstein, Josef Gingold, Franco Gulli, Earl Carlyss and Peter Salaff. She lives in Shaker Heights with her husband Jim, son Sam, two cats named Mewzik and Art and enjoys listening to Beethoven, Ella Fitzgerald, reading, movies and downhill skiing.

Ms. Fullard was appointed to the CIM faculty in 1988.
