Ida Mercer

Cello, received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from CIM as a student of Alan Harris. She also received a Bachelor of Music degree in cello from the University of Illinois and a Master of Music degree from the Yale University School of Music. Among her many honors and awards, she was named Ohio String Teachers Association Studio Teacher of the Year in 2002. Ms. Mercer is a cellist with Red {an Orchestra}, the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Britt Festival Orchestra (Jacksonville, Oregon), and is assistant principal cellist with the Cleveland Opera Orchestra. She previously taught at CIM from 1987-1991. She was reappointed to the CIM faculty in 2006.
