Rachel Keathley Huch holds degrees from Michigan State University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is also an alumnus of the prestigious Meadowmount School of Music, and Encore School for Strings. Her former teachers include David and Linda Cerone, Charles Avsharian, Stephen Shipps, Lyman Bodman and Jan Burchman. Ms. Huch has had the honor of performing in venues throughout North and South America as well as Europe. As a soloist, Ms. Huch has also performed with orchestras various times, most recently with the Birmingham- Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she is a laureate of various national and international competitions. Ms. Huch currently performs with the Ohio Philharmonic and Blossom Festival Orchestras. She has also performed with the Bach Festival Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony, Lansing Symphony, Jackson Symphony, Midland Symphony, and Ashland Symphony orchestras, among others. An experienced chamber musician, Ms. Huch has performed with the St. Ann Chamber Orchestra, toured with the International Chamber Soloists, and is first violinist of the Azalea quartet. She performs regularly as a chamber musician throughout Northeast Ohio.
Ms. Huch has performed with artists such as Barry Manilow, Stefon Harris, Josh Groban, Kanye West, Anne Murray, Doc Severinsen, Marvin Hamlisch, and Bobby McFerrin. As a recording artist she has been featured on radio, film, and albums such as The Vig’s self titled debut album, and “It’s about time” with Pat Madden and Sally Potter. She also regularly records violin tracks for American Greetings.
Since joining the CIM faculty in 2007, Ms. Huch has devoted her career to educating the next generation. She has spent time on the Chamber Music faculty at CIM, and was a guest artist for the Young Composer’s Program, to help teach aspiring composers the best ways to write for the violin. Her students regularly receive top honors in adjudicated events as well as acceptance into the highest level of youth ensembles, and festivals. Ms. Huch regularly visits a number of public schools throughout the Cleveland community to work and share her expertise with students in the orchestra programs. She is also sought after for guest master classes and as an adjudicator.
