Training For CIM Conservatory Suzuki Teachers
The CIM Conservatory offers the following degrees:
- MM in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy
- MM in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy
Teacher Trainer Faculty: Kimberly Meier-Sims, violin; Melissa Kraut, cello.
CIM Conservatory Suzuki Pedagogy candidates must be admitted to the CIM Master of Music degree program. The Pedagogy curriculum promotes the exploration and application of Suzuki philosophies, which encourage utilizing the Suzuki method to demonstrate principles of playing and teaching violin.
An in-depth study and performance of the Suzuki Violin/Cello school repertoire is required of all CIM Suzuki Pedagogy students, including a comprehensive knowledge of supplemental scales, arpeggios, études and works from the standard repertoire. Pedagogy students must complete required observations of private and group lessons within the CIM Preparatory Department.
Pedagogy Graduate Program requirements
Violin Units 1-10 for a total of 9 credit hours in Suzuki Pedagogy.
Apprenticeship with the CIM Preparatory Suzuki Program under supervision of Suzuki instructor.
Year One:
- Assisting with Suzuki Prep Group Lessons
Year Two:
- Assisting with Suzuki Prep Group Lessons
- Individual Teaching Practicum
