Richard Strauss blends the suspense and delight of comedy and tragedy in this wonderful opera. The story unfolds when a party is planned with entertainment to include both a "serious opera" company and a commedia dell'arte troupe. With the evening growing later and pressure mounting to complete the entertainment before the party's grand finale, the host demands that both companies perform together. Surprisingly the result is a great success, with romance triumphing to some of Strauss' most delectable music. This rarely performed masterpiece is sung in German with projected translations so you won't miss any of the action.
