Elizabeth Camus served as second oboist of The Cleveland Orchestra from 1979 until 2011. Prior to her Cleveland appointment, she was principal oboe of the San Antonio and Atlanta Symphonies, and appeared as soloist with both groups. A native of New Orleans, she was youth soloist with both the New Orleans Symphony and The Cleveland Orchestra. She currently serves as Coordinator of Woodwind Chamber Music and Professor of Oboe at CIM. Previous faculty appointments include Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory, Cleveland State University and Kent State University, as well as Agnes Scott College and Georgia State University in Atlanta, and Brevard Music Festival. She has given master classes in many venues in the United States, Canada, and Japan, and for many years was woodwind and chamber music coach of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra. Her former students, both oboists and other woodwind professionals, hold teaching and performing positions throughout the country and abroad. She is in her third term as a member of the board of directors of the Youth Orchestra Division of the League of American Orchestras. Ms. Camus holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Cleveland State University, completed upon her retirement from The Cleveland Orchestra.
