Pianist Julia Russ is a faculty member of both the Cleveland Institute of Music (Piano, Preparatory Division), as well as Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music (Applied Piano, Class Piano, and Keyboard Harmony). She received her Professional Studies Diploma in Piano Performance, and her Professional Studies Diploma in Collaborative Piano, from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She also holds degrees from Kent State University (Master of Music in Piano Performance) and the University of Toronto (Bachelor of Music in Musicology).
Ms. Russ has concertized extensively as both a soloist and as a collaborative pianist. As a solo pianist she has won numerous top prizes and scholarship competitions; including those at the Tuesday Musical Association, Peel Music Festival, Toronto Kiwanis, Kent State University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music, just to name a few. She has given solo piano recitals across both Canada and the United States.
As a collaborative pianist, Ms. Russ has worked with some of the finest musicians in the field: the Concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra, William Preucil; world renown violinists such as Midori Goto and Ivan Zenaty; the violist of the Juilliard String Quartet, Roger Tapping; and cellist Sharon Robinson of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson trio. She frequently performs with violinist James Thompson; and the two form a critically acclaimed duo. Ms. Russ’ performances were broadcast many times--- by both classical music radio stations in the Greater Cleveland area, WCLV and WKSU; and by TV station HCTV of Hudson, Ohio.
