Students of Alumni Recitals - Register Your Students Now

Don't miss this opportunity to have your students play in CIM's Mixon Hall. The Annual Students of Alumni Recitals are set for Sunday, May 22, 2016. All recitals are free and open to the public.

CIM alumni are invited to have up to three students/ensembles perform, with the length of time not exceeding 15 minutes for all three performances combined.

Three recital times are available: 3:30pm, 4:30pm, and 5:30pm. Performers are expected to utilize an accompanist when necessary, and will be responsible for providing their own. Assistance with referral is available.

If you are interested in having your students participate, please download the registration form and email one form for each student/ensemble to alumni@cim.edu or mail a hard copy to:
   Char Rapoport Nance
   Cleveland Institute of Music
   11021 East Blvd
   Cleveland, OH 44106

While the deadline for submission is April 1, participation availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please direct any additional general questions and scheduling issues to alumni@cim.edu.

Appropriate recital attire and a strongly committed approach to musical preparation are encouraged. We hope you'll consider this an incredible opportunity for your students to give a great performance in a beautiful setting.

As always, we need help on the day of the recitals with a few of the details. If you are available to help, please email alumni@cim.edu. Thanks!

Lunch and Listen Performance Opportunities - Tuesdays in July

Lunch and Listen is an alumni performance opportunity and a treat for our guests. Have you always wanted to play a recital in Mixon Hall? Have you played there before, and wanted to play there again?

Apply now to perform in the CIM Alumni Lunch and Listen Recital Series.

Every Tuesday in July, Mixon Hall is open for free noon-time recitals by CIM alumni. Recitals begin at 12:30pm and generally last around an hour.

The greater Cleveland community has come to anticipate and love these concerts - and we always expect an appreciative audience. Typically, our guests arrive around 11:30, and enjoy their brown bag lunch on the patio before the music begins. At 12:15, we usher them to Mixon Hall, where the music starts at 12:30.

For more information, email alumni@cim.edu, or call Char Rapoport Nance, 216-795-3169.

All performers will receive a complimentary CD of their performance. Sorry, no compensation is available for the artists performing in this series.

Travel assistance for CIM alumni

Travel assistance is available to CIM alumni for employment auditions and certain other professional development opportunities through the Office of Alumni Relations. Financial assistance is available for professional job interviews, auditions, competitions, professional seminars and workshops. Travel assistance funding is not available for any opportunity where the alumnus is paid to attend, regardless of the size of the payment.

Decisions will be based on merit and suitability of the event. Final decisions based on the eligibility criteria will be made by one representative of the previous year’s Alumni Association board, in consult with the Office of Alumni Relations. Alumni applicants who are also current students require a recommendation from the applicant’s primary CIM teacher and the Dean’s Office. Alumni applicants will not be required to submit a teacher recommendation, but will require confirmation of alumni status. Requests for assistance can cover travel and/or lodging expenses. Each award is limited to $300. Each person may receive the award only once.

Complete the application fully and return with résumé attached. Each member of a chamber ensemble must submit a separate application. Recipients are required to write a thank you note to the office of Alumni Relations indicating the outcome of the event. Available funds are limited.

Morning Brew, March 14 - want to help?

Morning Brew with the Alumni Crew is a CIM tradition. Twice each year, alumni and students get a chance to talk over bagels and doughnuts in the Pogue Lobby. It’s a great opportunity for students to get to know our graduates, and to establish relationships with musicians in the field.

Help is always needed! If you can come to Morning Brew on Monday, March 14, 8-11am (or any part of that time), please email alumni@cim.edu. Thank you!

The Fall 2015 Alumni Newsletter is available. Catch up with alumni activities. If you didn’t get a copy mailed to your home, contact alumni@cim.edu to be added to the mailing list.

Alumni News
