  • Cleveland International Music Festival - Faculty Recital

    The 1st Cleveland International Music Festival will be held from July 29th, 2016 to August 6th, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. World-famous music maestros and eminent music educators will offer young pianists, string players and singers individual professional instruction. Cleveland is a city with abundant musical resources, and the Cleveland International Music Festival, with professionalism and precision, aim to cultivate CIMF as one of the most influential music festivals internationally.

Meghan Guegold, from Mantua, Ohio, is currently Principal Horn of the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Prior to that, she held the position of Second Horn with that same orchestra. She also holds the position of Third Horn with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Blossom Festival Band, and the Blossom Festival Orchestra.

Ms. Guegold has attended the prestigious summer music festivals of the Music Academy of the West, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the Tanglewood Music Center. She has substituted with The Cleveland Orchestra, performing three Bruckner symphonies, under the direction of Franz Welser-Most, during the orchestra's residency at the Lincoln Center Festival in July 2011. Ms. Guegold is also a substitute horn player with The Florida Orchestra.

As an educator, she not only teaches horn lessons and master classes at northeastern Ohio schools, but she also teaches with the Paragon Brass Quintet at the University of Akron Summer Brass Performance Seminar for high school students. Ms. Guegold graduated with her Masters Degree in Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Richard King. Previously, she earned her Bachelors Degree in Performance, with Honors, from the University of Akron, and studied with William Hoyt. Ms. Guegold was a recipient of the Presser Foundation scholarship during her senior year at Akron, and has also been a winner in two Tuesday Musical Association scholarship competitions. On top of her busy performing and teaching schedule, Ms. Guegold also enjoys reading, distance running, and spending time with her family and dog, Apollo.
