The 1st Cleveland International Music Festival will be held from July 29th, 2016 to August 6th, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. World-famous music maestros and eminent music educators will offer young pianists, string players and singers individual professional instruction. Cleveland is a city with abundant musical resources, and the Cleveland International Music Festival, with professionalism and precision, aim to cultivate CIMF as one of the most influential music festivals internationally.

The trombone studio is small enough to focus on a "hands-on" approach to producing top-level professional players, and large enough to create a learning atmosphere of peers and colleagues. CIM trombone students have many performance opportunities in our two symphony orchestras, chamber music program, orchestral repertoire class, low brass class, and solo recitals.

Weekly lessons are taught by Richard Stout in a new trombone studio, outfitted to serve as students' rehearsal space, gathering place, and general home for all things trombone. A supportive yet challenging environment and the experience of an orchestral player, chamber musician, soloist, and teacher helps students develop individual approaches to learning. The teaching approach stresses a thorough understanding of those things that are universally important and seeks the personal and individual ways each student learns.

Recent CIM trombone graduates have won positions with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Detroit Symphony, Montreal Symphony, the Milwaukee Symphony, the Canton Symphony, the US Army Field Band, and the Air Force Heritage of America Band. Our students regularly attend summer festivals at Aspen, Tanglewood, National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, Music Academy of the West, Spoleto, and Pacific Music Festival.

The Cleveland Institute of Music is adjacent to the campus of Case Western Reserve University and only a 10-minute walk from Severance Hall, home of The Cleveland Orchestra. Not only can students hear one of the world's great orchestras perform every week in this terrific hall, they also play in the CIM orchestra, which performs there twice a year. Also, CIM recently completed an expansion of its own facilities, providing excellent performing spaces for recitals and chamber music.
