Conductor, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony
Introduction
Melissa Hanna Lichtler has been the director of the Cleveland Youth Symphony (CYWS) Group II since its inception in 1995. In this role, she has traveled and performed with the group across Europe and New Zealand. Mrs. Lichtler is employed by the Chardon Local Schools where she chairs the music department and directs multiple ensembles. She has recently been elected to a second two-year term as the Secretary/Treasurer of the District 7 Ohio Music Education Association.
Education
- BS in music education, Case Western Reserve University
- MM in music education, magna cum laude, Case Western Reserve University
- Trombone teachers have included James DeSano and Paul Ferguson
- Post-graduate work at Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, Capital University in Columbus, and The University of Akron
