Introduction

An advocate of bold, risk-taking style of French horn playing, Richard Solis was a member of The Cleveland Orchestra from 1971-2012. He served as principal horn with The Cleveland Orchestra from 1978-95 and became fourth horn until his retirement in 2012.

Solis is a former artist-in-residence at the University of Delaware and was principal horn at the Festival Casals in Puerto Rico from 1976-78. He also attended The Marlboro Music Festival from 1967-71. His recordings include chamber music recordings from the Marlboro Festival. Solis can also be heard on more than 100 recordings as principal horn of The Cleveland Orchestra.
