From very young children to adult learners who are young at heart; from music fans trying out an instrument for the first time to professional musicians looking to perfect their artistry—we have something for everyone. More than 1,300 students of all kinds take advantage of our lessons, classes, performance groups, and advanced studies programs.
Inspired teaching by creative faculty
You'll learn from faculty members who are known for being at the top of their fields, who have performed all over the world, and who provide the very best in music education.
Quality music education
Our main campus is located in Cleveland's lively University Circle neighborhood, and we also have four branch locations throughout northeast Ohio. See our locations.
Access to Conservatory Resources
Students participating in our preparatory and continuing education programs enjoy many of the same benefits as our conservatory students:
The CIM Concert Series offers hundreds of performances each year, including orchestral and chamber concerts, staged operas and faculty recitals of the highest caliber.
Almost all of our performances are open to the public and free of charge.
Some of the biggest names in classical music come to CIM to offer their expertise to students, including those in our preparatory and continuing education programs.
Past master class artists include:
- Peter Salaff, director of string chamber music studies at CIM
- Renee Fleming, soprano
- Rebecca Albers, viola, and Julie Albers, cello
- Lera Auerbach, pianist and composer
- Leon Fleischer, pianist and conductor
Students in our preparatory and continuing education programs have access to media collections, books, sheet music, and study spaces in the beautiful Robinson Music Library.
In addition to our youth and adult ensembles, students enrolled in our preparatory programs are invited to participate in departmental recitals, string orchestra, chamber music, and wind symphony.
Each semester, CIM holds a juried competition for conservatory and preparatory students for the chance to perform a concerto in a public concert with the CIM Orchestra.
