    Bad Music and Bad Musicians
    Dr. Timothy Cutler
The greatness of renowned composers and performers is easily taken for granted unless we spend some time at the other end of the talent spectrum.

Jiah Chung, violinist, holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from CIM, where her principal teachers were David Cerone, David Updegraff and David Russell. Ms. Chung has been a prize winner in many competitions, including the Sioux City Concerto Competition, Lucy Palmero Weed Competition and was a Grand Prize winner of the Des Moines Young Artist Competition. As a chamber and orchestral musician, Ms. Chung has performed throughout the United States as well as in Europe and South Korea. She has performed as a soloist with the Sioux City Orchestra, Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, World Youth Symphony Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra. Ms. Chung is currently concertmaster of Opera Cleveland and appears regularly with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, and the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. She was appointed to the CIM faculty in 2003.
