Noriko Fujii was born in Tokyo, Japan and began piano studies at age four. After graduating from Toho-Gakuen School of Music she came to the United States, having received a Fulbright grant to study at Washington University in St. Louis.

Miss Fujii made her U.S. debut with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in Handel's Messiah. Since then, her performances of recitals, chamber music and oratorios have been hailed in Europe, United States and Japan by audiences and critics alike. Her engagements have taken her to Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Japan. Known and praised for the performances of contemporary music, she was a guest artist with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony and Aki, festival of new music.

Several composers (e.g.. Jean Langlais, Ilja Hurnik, Sydney Hodkinson, Edwin London, P.Q. Phan, Marcel Dick) dedicated their works to her. Venues and ensembles she collaborated with include St. Louis Bach Festival, Chicago Camerata, August Opera Festival (St. Louis), Piccolo Spoleto, De Koninklijke Zangvereiniging Arti Vocali (Antwerp, Belgium), Flemish Music Festival (Ghent, Belgium).

Recordings include A la Vierge Marie French 20th century sacred music (Dabringhaus und Grimm, Germany); For John Muir by Bain Murray: Music of Cleveland composers; and Sonnet Haiku by Edwin London.

Presently she teaches at the Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she is the voice chair in the Preparatory and Continuing Education division. She was appointed to the CIM faculty in 2004.
