  • CIM@CMA: Music in the Galleries

    The popular series of monthly concerts in the galleries featuring young artists from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the joint program with Case Western Reserve University’s early and baroque music programs enters its fifth season. Outstanding conservatory musicians present mixed programs of chamber music amid the museum’s collections for a unique and intimate experience—concerts regularly feature instruments from the museum’s keyboard collection.

    From standard repertoire to unknown gems, these early-evening, hour-long performances are a delightful after-work encounter or the start of a night out. Programs announced the week of the performance.

  • Fall Conservatory Concerto Competition

    Students compete for an opportunity to perform a concerto with the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra in Spring 2017. 

A performer, teacher, lecturer and non-profit leader, Erik Mann teaches guitar literature, guitar pedagogy and Preparatory lessons at CIM. He also heads the guitar department at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and serves as Executive Director of the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society. Under his leadership the CCGS has entered an unprecedented period of growth, which includes the creation of a concert series for the finest international and local artists as well as an education program which provides free instruction to the students of Lincoln West High School and Buchtel CLC, the majority of which are economically disadvantaged.

Erik Mann has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra and Glimmerglass Opera and as a concerto soloist with the Erie Philharmonic and the Erie Chamber Orchestra. An active member of his community, Mr. Mann develops and implements outreach programs to help raise interest in classical music. He can regularly be seen performing solo and with various ensembles including the Edinboro University Chamber Players.

Mr. Mann received his bachelor’s degree from Towson University and his master’s degree from CIM. He has studied extensively with Jason Vieaux, John Holmquist and Ronald Pearl.
