Introduction

Distinguished conductor Carlos Kalmar was appointed to the CIM faculty in 2021, where he will prepare pre-professional musicians to perform as top tier orchestral musicians, conducts the CIM Orchestra and trains promising young conductors.

In 2021, he celebrated his eighteenth and final year as music director of the Oregon Symphony, during which time the ensemble garnered rave reviews from international press and was nominated for several GRAMMY© Awards. He is also the artistic director and principal conductor of the Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago.
