    Chamber music

    Chamber music for all instruments is offered through the Pre-College Chamber Music Program. Directed by Carolyn Warner, the PCCM program offers a comprehensive, exciting and refreshingly-fun approach to the world of chamber music playing. 

    Ages: 10-18

    Level: Intermediate/Advanced

    Children's Choir

    Students will develop vocal technique, music literacy, artistry and ensemble skills in a supportive and energizing environment. 

    Ages: 5-14

    Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony

    Three wind ensembles open to all woodwind, brass, and percussion students who perform advanced high school level band repertoire. Admission is determined through audition.

    Level: Advanced

    Eurhythmics

    Introduction to the basic elements of music through movement and sound, taught in a group setting. 

    Ages: 3-6, 12-18
    Semesters: Fall, Spring
    Level: Beginner, Intermediate

    Preparatory Orchestra

    Ensemble training for intermediate string players that aims to develop mature orchestral skills. 

    Ages: 8-16
    Semesters: Fall, Spring
    Level: Suzuki Book 4 or equivalent

    Private Lessons

    Areas of Instruction

    Individual instruction in piano, strings, woodwind, brass, voice, percussion and theory. Students are offered regular performance and assessment opportunities as they pursue high-quality instruction with CIM's renowned faculty.

    String Sinfonia

    A fun and educational introduction to ensemble performance for young string players (formerly Beginning Orchestra).

    Ages: 7-13

    Level: Suzuki Book 3 or equivalent

    Suzuki Studies

    The CIM Suzuki program provides violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano instruction, taught by highly trained faculty. Students across all levels, embrace the philosophy of lifelong learning, engaging in private lessons, group and theory classes, recitals and workshops.

  • Summer Programs
    Sphinx Performance Academy

    An Intensive chamber music and solo performance program, designed for aspiring Black and Latino string players. 

    Ages: 11-17
    Semesters: Summer
    Level: Advanced

    Summer Sonata

    A weeklong program of intensive study for aspiring young pianists. Participants receive individual instruction as well as group instruction in theory, eurthythmics, improvisation and more. Master class and performance opportunities provide an ideal environment for participants to grow and develop as young pianists and musicians. 

    Ages: 12-18

    Young Composers Program

    A weeklong program featuring private composition lessons, listening sessions, and chamber music coachings, culminating in the premiere of a work by each student composer. 

    Ages: 14-19
    Semesters: Summer
    Level: Intermediate, Advanced

    Suzuki Cello Summer Camps

    The CIM Suzuki program offers two summer camps. Intro to Suzuki Cello is a program for ages 3-7 and their parents or guardians to learn the basics of cello playing. The Suzuki Cello Workshop offers 8-12 year olds a platform to hone their skills and collaborate with other young musicians.

    Intensive course of study designed to help gifted musicians prepare for advanced music study while in their junior and senior year of high school. 

    Ages: 16-18

    Junior Young Artist Program

    Intensive curriculum for gifted young musicians aimed to build the fundamentals of a thorough music education. 

    Ages: 12+
    Semesters: Full Academic Year

  • Fellowship Program
    Musical Pathway Fellowship (MPF) Program

    Designed for African-American and Latinx students interested in a music career, the MPF program provides exceptional artistic trainin delivered by CIM faculty. The program provides ongoing, multi-year support to students, including comprehensive music instruction through high school, with a goal of preparing them to enter a conservatory or university music program upon graduation.

    Eligibility: Students entering grades 6-9
    Instruments: Orchestral instruments, piano or guitar
