Introduction
Acclaimed for his exceptional artistry and magnificent tone, American violinist Chad Hoopes has established himself as a versatile and sought-after performer with many of the world’s leading orchestras and festivals. Recent highlights include Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Brahms’s Double Concerto with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and engagements with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. He has also appeared at major festivals including the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Music@Menlo, and the Dresden Music Festival.
Hoopes has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and Frankfurt Radio Symphony, among many others. A frequent guest of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, he holds the Susan S. and Kenneth L. Wallach Chair. His recordings include concertos by Mendelssohn and Adams, as well as chamber works by Dvořák on SONY Classical.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Kronberg Academy, Hoopes is a recipient of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Career Grant and has been featured on the cover of The Strad. An active and dedicated educator, he now joins the Cleveland Institute of Music as Associate Professor of Violin.
