Introduction

Praised for his expressive, virtuoso, and poetic artistry, Belgian cellist Tom Landschoot enjoys an international career as a concert artist, recording musician, and pedagogue. A top prizewinner at the International Cello Competition “Jeunesse Musicales” in Bucharest, his solo career has taken him across North America, Europe, South America, and Asia, with appearances on national radio and television worldwide. He has performed with the National Orchestra of Belgium, Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Flanders, and other leading ensembles, and his recordings are available on Summit, Organic, Kokopelli, ArchiMusic, and Centaur Records.

An active chamber musician, Landschoot has been a member of the Rossetti Quartet since 2013 and has collaborated with artists and members of the Takács, Dover, Cleveland, Tokyo, and Orion Quartets. A dedicated advocate for contemporary music, he has commissioned and premiered more than 20 new works for cello, including concertos by Dirk Brossé and Frank Nuyts.

A committed educator, Landschoot previously served on the faculties of Arizona State University and the University of Michigan and has taught at the Music Academy of the West, Meadowmount School of Music, Castleman Quartet Program, and other leading festivals. His students have earned major competition prizes, hold principal orchestral positions, and serve on university faculties worldwide. He is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Sonoran Chamber Music Festival and President of the Arizona Cello Society.
