aculty Wins Prestigious Award from American Academy of Arts and Letters

On March 9, the American Academy of Arts and Letters announced the recipients of its 2016 awards in music, which included head of CIM’s composition department, Keith Fitch. Fitch was awarded the Walter Hinrichsen Award for “the publication of a work by a gifted composer.”

“I was understandably thrilled when I received the notification of my award,” said Fitch. “It is truly an honor to be recognized by the American Academy and to be in the company of so many of our nation's leading creative artists, many of whom I am very lucky to count among my friends and colleagues.”

The Walter Hinrichsen Award was established by the C. F. Peters Corporation in 1984 and as the recipient the classical music publisher will publish one of Fitch’s works. This year there were 17 total award recipients and prizes totaled more than $200,000. Fitch will formally accept the award at the annual Ceremonial in New York in May.

Congratulations!
