Keep Up with CIM with #CIMSummer2016

Aspen Music Festival

We asked CIM faculty and students to tag posts of their summer travels with #CIMSummer2016 so we could see highlights along the way. So, where in the world were our students this summer? Take a look!

CIM student Xiaohan Sun (viola, Irvine) posted the picture above with her fellow CIM violists attending the Aspen Music Festival and School. They also happen to all be students of CIM viola department co-head, Jeffry Irvine. In their post they added another hashtag:  #irvineinstituteofmusic. The Wall Street Journal wrote about the Aspen Music Festival earlier this month, saying that it “has played host to generations of promising young musicians since its official founding in 1951.”

Salzburg Music Festival in Austria

Kent/Blossom Music Festival

Audry Naffe (viola, Konopka) (above) participated in the 2016 Kent/Blossom Music Festival and posed here with her teacher, CIM faculty and Cleveland Orchestra member Stanley Konopka after their performance. Cleveland.com wrote of the performance that “Mitchell and his Kent State University charges gave a well-paced and nicely balanced reading of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F major., making of it so much more than simply an amuse-bouche before the main event.”
