Louis Lane, former CIM faculty member and Cleveland Orchestra conductor dies at 92


Louis Lane, GRAMMY Award-winning conductor and former CIM faculty member, died at age 92. Mr. Lane served on CIM's faculty from 1981 to 2009 and led the orchestral program as its artistic adviser and conductor.  He was a distinguished music educator at CIM and throughout the region, including Oberlin Conservatory and Akron University. In 1995 Mr. Lane received an Honorary Doctorate from CIM.

A renowned conductor known for his imaginative programming, Mr. Lane led orchestras throughout the country as co-conductor and principal guest conductor at organizations that included the Dallas Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, more than 20 years with the Akron Symphony and a quarter century with The Cleveland Orchestra.
