Percussion Faculty Richard Weiner Elected to Hall of Fame

Faculty member Richard Weiner, co-head of the Percussion department, was elected to the Percussive Arts Society’s Hall of Fame in 2018. He will be officially inducted at a ceremony in November. Hall of Fame members are highly regarded leaders in the industry and their music has a record of sustained contributions to the field.

Weiner has been a member of the CIM faculty since 1963. He is also Principal Percussion Emeritus of The Cleveland Orchestra, where he led the percussion section for 43 of his 48-year tenure.

The Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame was established in 1972 to recognize the contributions of esteemed leaders in percussion performance, education, research, scholarship, administration, composition and the industry. Inductees demonstrate the highest ideals and professional integrity to their profession to bring about significant events, substantive improvements in the world of percussion, and the betterment of the profession through exemplary services or acts.
