Trifonov Performs in Carnegie Hall Recital Debut Feb. 5, Featured Locally on NPR Feb. 4


Winner of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition pianist Daniil Trifonov has demonstrated musical maturity beyond his years, winning top prizes in renowned competitions and performing as a soloist last season with the Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall. He makes his triumphant return to Carnegie Hall February 5 in his solo recital debut, performing works by Scriabin and Liszt, along with Chopin’s dazzling Preludes.

 

Mr. Trifonov and CIM President Joel Smirnoff sat down with Vivian Goodman of local NPR affiliate WKSU to talk about this performance, his feelings for Chopin and Tchaikovsky, and his impressions of Cleveland. President Smirnoff shared his hopes for the composer virtuoso.
