Sergei Babayan's Proms 2015 performance with Daniil Trifonov dubbed "not to miss"

Renowned CIM faculty member, Sergei Babayan will perform alongside former student and distinguished CIM alum, Daniil Trifonov at Proms 2015 in London.

“For sheer energy and brilliant displays of pianistic virtuosity this is surely the Prom to go for,” said The Telegraph in its Proms preview. The pair will tackle all five Sergey Prokofiev piano concertos in one concert –a massive feat they first accomplished in 2012 under the baton of conductor Valery Gergiev at the Mariinsky.

Babayan, winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition, was appointed to the CIM faculty in 1992. Trifonov (Babayan AC ’13, AD ’15), winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, is a 2015 Grammy nominee. Both can be seen this summer at festivals throughout Europe.

Looking to repeat the prior challenge, the men will reunite with Gergiev and Alexei Volodin for Prom 14 on July 28, 2015, this time with the London Symphony Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall.
