The 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition (CIPC) is underway! Be sure to follow CIM students and alums who are competing this year: alums Tomer Gewirtzman (MM ’15, Babayan) and Shen Lu (AD ’16, Paik), current student Sara Daneshpour (Babayan) and Ruoyu Huang(Babayan), who will be attending CIM in the fall. Round Two of the competition begins on Thursday, July 28. Watch all the performances online at clevelandpiano.org.

The two-week long event grants its first prize winners with $50,000, a Carnegie Hall recital debut, a recording on the Steinway & Sons label and the launch of a US concert career.

Events are spread out throughout the city at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance Hall and at CIM, and commentary is provided by alumnus Zsolt Bognár (BM ’05, MM’07, Babyan) during the competition’s webcast.
