An Introduction to Arabic Music Theory
As a Lebanese-American woman, I grew up listening to Arabic music. During my childhood, my dad would take a CD from his stuffed case, pop it in the car stereo, and translate every lyric to me in English. These moments have inspired me to research and present an introduction to Arabic music theory. In this colloquium, I intend to bring a new kind of music theory to CIM in hopes of diversifying our curriculum.
