At CIM, students in all degree and diploma programs perform regularly in large and small ensembles.
Under the leadership of Tito Muñoz, the CIM Orchestra performs in the state-of-the-art Kulas Hall. All orchestra students, regardless of class or degree, are assigned to concerts—there are no "upper" or "lower" orchestras.
CIM's chamber music program, led by Si-Yan Darren Li, is recognized as one of the most celebrated and preeminent programs in the world. Students receive regular coaching from resident and guest faculty and have the opportunity to audition for various advanced tracks.
CIM Opera Theater, under the direction of François Germain, stages both canonic and contemporary works with leading stage directors, garnering praise from audiences and critics alike.
CIM's New Music Ensemble, directed by Keith Fitch, pushes the boundaries of the field and welcomes leading composers as collaborators, from Joan Tower to Curtis Stewart in recent years.
Beyond those core ensembles, students also have rotating access to CIM Virtuosi, Global Music Experience, Pop Ensemble, and other specially curated opportunities.
