Master of Music in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy

Suzuki Pedagogy Program DepartmentViolin Department

The Master of Music degree in Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy incorporates the elements of the Master of Music degree in Performance program, with coursework that develops advanced competencies in Shinichi Suzuki's pedagogical approach.

The Suzuki method's pedagogical approach combines the exploration and application of Suzuki's philosophies with comprehensive knowledge of supplemental scales, arpeggios, études and works from the standard repertoire.

The Pedagogy curriculum promotes the exploration and application of Suzuki philosophies, which encourage utilizing the Suzuki method to demonstrate principles of playing and teaching violin, viola, and cello.

An in-depth study and performance of the Suzuki Violin/Cello school repertoire is required of all CIM Suzuki Pedagogy students, including a comprehensive knowledge of supplemental scales, arpeggios, études and works from the standard repertoire.
