Pre-arrival checklist

Here’s a month-by-month guide of what needs to be completed before you start your classes this fall! Have questions? Get in touch:

May To-Dos
  • Read the FERPA Policy and complete the FERPA Consent Form located on NetPartner.
  • Check off these Financial Aid items:
    • Accept or decline any pending aid, as applicable, by June 1.
    • Complete supplemental documents such as Loan Master Promissory Notes, Loan Entrance Counseling, FAFSA Verification, etc. by June 1. You can find these documents by logging into NetPartner.
    • Apply for a PLUS Loan, if applicable. Log in to NetPartner and navigate to Direct Loan Info PDF.
    • Report any outside or private scholarships as soon as they are known. To report a scholarship, visit NetPartner and fill out the Outside Scholarship Information Form.
  • Complete the Housing Preference Form, and provide any specific roommate requests. Please also fill out and submit the Housing Contract. Both items are due by June 1. Cutter Hall residents must also fill out a Vaccine Tracking Form
  • Quick to-dos for international students:
    • Submit I-20 Certification of Finances Form and passport ID page by May 15. Log in to the Application Status Page, using your CIM ID and password, to access this information.
    • Set-up eshipglobal account and pay for shipping of I-20. You can create an account and submit your payment, here. If you have any questions regarding your I-20, please email Kristen Zalar directly at kristen.zalar@cim.edu.
June To-Dos
  • Request final transcript of last education level to be sent to Registrar’s Office by July 1. Transcripts can be mailed to: Attn: Registrar, 11021 East Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44106.
  • Submit the Health Insurance Waiver, if applicable.
  • Items for international students:
    • After receiving the I-20, be sure to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee.
    • Apply for F-1 visa. Use the US Embassy website to obtain information on F-1 visas for your specific country. This will help you prepare for your visa interview. If you are currently in the United States on an F-1 visa, your SEVIS record should be transferred from your current school to CIM. The Transfer-In form should be sent to CLE214F00221000 from your current school.
  • Check off these Financial Aid items:
    • Submit State Prepaid Tuition Plan Info to CIM, if applicable.
    • Report any and all outside or private scholarship awards. To report a scholarship, visit NetPartner, CIM’s financial aid portal, and fill out the Outside Scholarship Information Form.
July To-Dos
  • Set up your CIM email and Self Service online portal. Update billing address in Self Service no later than July 8.
  • Register for classes (CIM’s academic advising sheet will be customized and emailed to you by July 15).
  • Billing (fall statements will be sent in early July and due August 13).
    • Submit Payment Plan Form. Visit NetPartner to access the form.
    • Review Payment Policies Info Sheet. Visit NetPartner to access the info sheet.
  • Review the Financial Aid Info Guide about aid disbursement and credit balance refund dates, which can be found on NetPartner.
  • Submit photo for ID card.
  • Students living in the residence hall, complete the Meal Plan Selection form.
  • Complete Campus Clarity online training. A notification for this training will be sent via email from Dean Gilson.
  • If you have known educational accommodations, or believe you will require academic or other accommodation, please notify Dean Gilson at david.gilson@cim.edu and provide documentation.
August To-Dos
  • Check off these Financial Aid items:
    • If you have a Work Study Award, when you arrive at CIM, bring your student ID and complete the new hire paperwork in person.
    • Billing: Fall balances are due August 13 in full or via payment plan.
  • Log in to My Health Connect, click on "Forms,” and complete the following:
    • Privacy Statement
    • Medical History
    • Immunization History

You may need to contact your health care provider to obtain your immunization history. Your medical provider may complete the Immunization Worksheet or provide official copies of your immunization records.

  • Submit the Health Tracking Form for the residence hall.
  • Prepare for auditions! Find audition tips from CIM faculty on our YouTube channel.
September To-Dos
  • Make any changes to your billing address and Self Service, if applicable. You can make updates, here.
  • Submit FERPA consent wishes change or new FERPA form, if applicable.
  • Obtain an SSN for the first time and notify CIM Registrar and Financial Aid (you will receive information and instructions during the international student orientation).
  • Report any outside or private scholarships to Financial Aid, if applicable. To report a scholarship, visit NetPartner and fill out the Outside Scholarship Information Form.
