    Students from CIM and the CWRU early music program present a wide range of repertoire in this series of early evening performances. To make your evening even more musical, attend the 8pm CIM Orchestra Concert at Severance.

Hosting an Event at CIM

If you are interested in hosting an event at CIM, the Institute does allow groups to rent its facilities. For specific details on how to bring the atmosphere and music of CIM to your event, please send an e-mail to Whitney Clair, Concert Facilities Coordinator, or reach her by phone at (216) 791-5000 ext. 516.

Main Building Hours

Spring 2015 Building Hours

Subject to change on concert evenings, during vacations, and when deemed necessary by the school administration, hours during the academic year are as follows:

  • Monday through Thursday, 7:15 am - l2:00 am
  • Friday, 7:15 am - 11:00 pm
  • Saturday, 7:45 am - 11:00 pm
  • Sunday, 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

Vacation building hours are published in advance of each vacation period, and daily building hours are included on the bi-weekly calendar which is posted on the bulletin boards.

Capacity: 235 seats.
Details: Stage enclosed by glass and acoustic wood walls overlooking the Gilliam Family Music Garden.

Upstage back wall: 36 ft. wide.

Lighting: Concert lighting, fixed focus.
Sound: 2 wireless mics, CD playback.

Capacity: 535 plus four handicapped spots.
Details: Main stage enclosed by acoustic shell and ceiling.

Stage depth: 38 ft. (with pit lift)
Proscenium opening: 47 ft.
Lighting: Concert lighting, fixed focus.
Sound: 2 wireless mics, 1 corded mic, CD playback.

CIM has a new entrance onto East Boulevard and a sophisticated new lobby, often used for social functions in conjunction with concerts.

Fred A. Lennon Education Building →

This new wing includes practice rooms, percussion and timpani practice rooms and teaching studios, the McAfee Conference Room, Maltz Lobby, an Electronic Music Studio, the Patrick Audio Recording Studio, and the Kulas Center for International Education - CIM's Distance Learning studios. It is also home to several administrative offices.

Patrick Audio Studio →

This state-of-the-art studio's acoustic design was created by CIM adjunct faculty member Peter D'Antonio and incorporates characteristics on the cutting edge of acoustical research. It allows student to work and learn about recording in a space that is in a class by itself.

Kulas Center for International Studies →

Distance Learning has two video conference studios. The large studio holds an instrumental sextet and a piano accompanist. The second studio holds a quartet. Each studio has a dedicated control room. Advanced video, audio and tele-communication systems in the DL studios and in Mixon Hall allow CIM to connect with schools and other conservatories all around the world.

Terrace and Garden →

As part of the Lennon Building, students, faculty and the public have a new lounge and outdoor terrace on which to gather. It is adjacent to green space including a lovely garden connecting to the Mixon Hall wing.

Opened in 1961, CIM's main building houses practice rooms, teaching studios, Kulas Hall and administrative space.

This brick structure houses practice rooms and rehearsal space. It is located next to the main campus.

Cutter House Residence Hall →

Cutter house is home to freshmen and sophomores at CIM. It is footsteps away from the main building. The residence hall was recently renovated with new bathrooms and kitchen, updated lounge area and many amenities.
